However, just the opposite is true.

Container vegetable gardening is gaining in popularity as more people become aware of the many varieties of herbs and vegetables easily thrive in containers.

Lettuce and spinach plus vegetables with plenty from leaves on them are what you should consider for container flower gardening as these succeed when grown in packing containers.

To get the most from container vegetable gardening you may as well choose to plant small tomatoes which salad tomatoes, plum tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are good examples.

The next thing to decide is what types of vegetables you want to grow.

That will dictate the container sizes.

Anything that will grow in your region in a regular vegetable patch will do just fine using the container vegetable gardening method.

A lot of success has been found growing squash, lettuce, and eggplant in containers.

Other success stories include beans, onions, and tomatoes.

Cucumbers and pole beans can do very well too, just be sure to have the space they need since they are very vine like plants.

As long as you have a sunny spot outdoors, you can grow any number of fresh herbs and veggies right outside your back door.

Some root vegetables like radishes and onions will even do well in the confines of a container if they have enough space below the dirt to take root.

Whether you are planting seeds or opting for seedling plants, you will want to make sure your selections are completely organic.

This may mean inquiring of the nursery or seed companies about the quality of plants and seeds that will be going into your organic container vegetable gardening efforts.

Fortunately, there are many options today in organic seeds and plants, so your choices should be virtually unlimited in the types of plants you would like to grow.

There are many pains to regular vegetable gardening, including the weeds that pop up in regular gardens, and the insects that are prone to bothering you in these gardens as well. There is a great way to get bigger and better vegetables, as well as have better control over your crop.

Doing container vegetable gardening allows you to have more control and get rid of some of the pests.

Most container vegetable gardeners have the most success with soilless pot mixtures because they are light, drain quickly, and are void of soil-borne diseases and weed seeds.

You can buy different kinds of soilless mix from any garden & garden sheds store.

If you want to make a mixture for container vegetable gardening on your own, mix one part sand, one part peat moss, and one part loamy garden soil.

Heat the mixture for one hour in an oven at 210 degrees F to kill insects, bacteria, fungus, and weeds.

Vegetable container gardening is a useful introduction to gardening for beginners.

You can grow just about any vegetable in containers, not only giving you pleasure in growing your own, but saving you money as well.

For those who wish to grow their own vegetables but do not have a garden or the space to do so, container vegetable gardening solves this problem.

Containers for your vegetable garden.

Many people have discovered that all types of containers work very well for this type of gardening.

Some of the more inventive options have been gallon cans, old tubs, and bushel baskets.

Of course, the standard plastic or ceramic pots will take care of your container vegetable gardening needs as well.

For the smaller vegetables like green onion and herbs, pots that are 6-10 inches will work nicely.

For the larger plants, tomatoes and eggplant being part of this group, a pot that is around the size of a 5-gallon bucket is a good choice.

Whichever size pot you decide you need and use make sure it has adequate drainage in the bottom.
